Pizza
Bread machine pizza dough
1 1/2 c. water
2 T. olive oil
3 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 T. sugar
1 3/4 t. salt
2 t. yeast
Put water and oil in bottom of bread machine bowl.
Add the flour, sugar, and salt.
Make an indentation in the top of the flour and add the yeast.
Chose the dough setting.
This will make 2 12" round pans.
When the dough is done remove it from the bowl and put
on a floured surface. Knead slightly to get the bubbles out
and then cut into half. Roll each half out to fit into the well-
greased pans. Sprinkle lightly over each crust a thin layer of
grated white cheese (mozzarella, pizza cheese, etc.), then pizza
sauce. (Recipe below or purchase ready made). Add toppings.
(meat, onions, green peppers, mushrooms) and then sprinkle
with parmesan cheese.
Bake at 425 degrees 10 minutes and then remove from
oven and top with grated white cheese of your taste
preference. Return to oven and bake another 10 minutes
or until it seems done. Let set a few minutes before
cutting and serving. The extra or left-over pizza
freezes nicely and is handy to have on hand for
a quick meal.
Pizza Sauce
This will make enough for 4 or 5 12" round pizzas.
Freeze what you don't use for future use.
2 T. olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced (or use pre-made minced garlic)
1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1/2 T. sugar (or more if you like a sweeter sauce)
3/4 t. salt
1 t. dried basil
1/2 t. dried oregano
Freshly cracked black pepper (10-15 cranks of a pepper mill)
(or you can just use regular pepper)
1 pinch red pepper (optional)
Add the olive oil and garlic to a sauce pan and cook over
medium heat for 1-2 minutes. Add all of the remaining
ingredients. Stir to combine. Cover the pan and allow
to come to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let
simmer for 15 - 30 minutes.
